Case Study:
Children's Cancer Run
"We can always rely on Silver Bullet to deliver excellent publicity, the support that they provide is fantastic and ensures that the number of participants in our events, namely The Children's Cancer Run, remain high in an increasingly difficult economy, which is invaluable to any organisation, not least a charity.
Tony Gilroy, Run organiser
Loading The Barrel:
Raising vital funds for the North of England Children’s Cancer Research (NECCR) fund, The Children’s Cancer Run is the biggest fun-run in Europe and upon completion of the usually very muddy five-mile course, runners are greeted with a picnic from Greggs and a nice shiny medal.
The Colour Mix:
Money spent on advertising is money that could go on research, so we rely on PR and work closely with select, like-minded media partners, the Evening Chronicle and Metro Radio to ensure our releases and articles get a friendly reception. Event management calls in more favours from organisations such as Complete Football, Newcastle Falcons and Newcastle College, and we make sure every element of the campaign is integrated into our online content and social media platforms ensuring wider engagement with potential runners.
The Impact:
Every year an average of 10,000 runners sign up to take part in the run and together they have helped to raise over £6 million for NECCR since the run began back in 1982. Despite tough economic times, when other charity events have witnessed decline in participants, the run is going strong and continues to hold the record for the biggest event of it’s kind in Europe, raising the most amount of money for a single charity at one event.
Tony continued, "Silver Bullet have managed the communications for The Children's Cancer Run and North of England Children's Cancer Research (NECCR) for more than seven years now, and every year they go above and beyond to make sure that the people from the North East are aware NECCR's work and the fund raising events we hold - which ultimately encourages more people to take part and donate."
